It started with an idea in 2019, that took shape in 2020. Known at the time as SEND Leaders' Appreciation Day (SLAD), this annual event on 1st July created space around the world for people to celebrate others who go that extra mile for others.
SEND = Special Educational Needs and Disability
We've learnt a lot along the way and within in the last year, we have also come to realise this was now a global celebration, crossing the boundaries of education, health, social care, community spaces and places of employment. So in 2026, this will be led by Pooja and we have rebranded to:
An Inclusionist is someone who goes over and beyond to ensure as many people as possible are supported in who they are, encouraging them to get involved and become who they want to be.
